How to Get Involved with Interactive Spanish Opportunities

Learning any language can be difficult when you don’t have the opportunity to practice what you are learning.  I chose to learn Spanish and it quickly became apparent to me how important interactive Spanish experiences would be.  I needed to have the opportunity to really get out in the world and experience what I was working so hard to learn.  When I took part in interactive Spanish opportunities, I not only practiced my knowledge of the language, I was also able to learn more about the Spanish culture and the Spanish people as well.  I also took the time to learn from my mistakes and refine my knowledge and use of the Spanish language, which I would not have been able to do so easily without these opportunities at my disposal.  If you are learning Spanish and unsure as to how to take part in beneficial and advantageous interactive Spanish experiences, here are some great ideas:

Practice conversing with a Spanish-speaking friend:  One of my friends speaks Spanish as a primary language.  She has been patient, helpful and courteous enough to have conversations with me as I practice learning the language, even though sometimes I make mistakes that send her off on a giggle fit!  Talking with her gives me the opportunity to practice what I am learning with a real, live person.

Go online and find interactive Spanish games:  There are many games online which offer users interactive experiences with the Spanish language.  Sometimes it is easier for me to learn in a playful manner than in a rigid or overwhelmingly structuralized environment.  This makes games a great way to take a break, but still learn!

Go on an immersion field trip:  Many communities offer immersion trips, where the individuals gather and experience only cultural/language aspects of the intended culture.  Try to find a Spanish immersion opportunity in your community by looking in town or city newspapers and scanning community websites for such experiences.

If you are desparately trying to learn Spanish, but not really getting anywhere, try this and you will find that you can soon be talking Spanish
