How To Teach Yourself Spanish

The best way to teach yourself  Spanish is to take up one of the many online Spanish courses and Spanish software options available. There are so many free Spanish learning websites now available. Some offer you a free trial or part of their course for no money, whilst others provide complete courses for nothing at all. The trade off is that there will usually be advertisements on the pages but you can easily overlook that (in fact you might see something useful for your Spanish learning in the advertisements anyway).

The generally accepted best way to learn Spanish is to immerse yourself in the language. Subjecting your mind to as much Spanish as possible is the best possible method of picking up the language fast. Just like a child can learn to speak by being surrounded by the language of their family, you can also become familiar with Spanish if you are always hearing, reading and speaking it.

So what can you do to teach yourself Spanish?

One great method is to get a Spanish TV channel on TV. Make sure there are subtitles so that you know what is being said. Alternatively you can hire Spanish DVD movies with subtitles. Watching one movie per day (just one or two hours per day) will result in your knowledge being expanded within just a few weeks. You will start noticing that you are watching the subtitles less and less as time goes on. You can also watch English movies with Spanish subtitles so you can learn the written language as well, as not all English words are easily translated into Spanish so you will want to pick up on the small differences.

Listening to Spanish music will also assist in your learning. Some Spanish music contains very fast lyrics that beginners will not be able to pick up, but there are some artists who sing slower and clearer. Often a lyrics book is included so you can follow along. Some Spanish artists that are easyier to understand include:

Jarebe de Palo
Julieta Venegas
Lila Downs
Fonseca

Now that you know how to teach yorself Spanish you can get started learning this language of the world.  Start here
